Relaxing DIY Stress Relief Bath Bombs

Let’s face it, life and all of its curveballs can get the best of us – bills, work, kids, sometimes just everyday living in general – is enough to make even the most laid-back person become a basket of nerves. Mentally and physically things pile up, stress takes over and the next thing you know you’re in the middle of having a breakdown. In order to live life stress-free (for the most part), it is very important for us as individuals to take time ourselves.

A nice hot relaxing bath is one way to do this. Bathing has more benefits than making your body clean, including:
- keeping your heart healthy
- makes breathing easier
- calms your nervous system releasing stress and anxiety
Throw in one of our homemade Stress Relieving Bath Bombs and watch your anxiety fly out the window. (Yes, I do love metaphors!)

Ingredients
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup Epsom salt
- 3/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tbs almond oil
- 3 teaspoons witch hazel
- 1.25 teaspoon blue or green mica powder
- 8-10 drops lavender essential oil
- 10 drops grapefruit essential oil
- 10 drops orange/citrus essential oil
- 8-10 drops chamomile essential oil
- 6-8 drops clary sage essential oil
- Small spray bottle with water
Directions
Makes 4 large ball style bombs.
- In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Make sure there are no clumps.
- In a small glass bowl, combine the almond oil, essential oils and witch hazel. Whisk.
- Pour the liquid mixture into the large bowl, it will fizz once the liquid touches it.
- Begin mixing using a fork (or your hands) until everything looks combined and somewhat moist.
- Prep your silicone molds and use a spoon to fill the molds halfway. Using a silicone spatula, press the mixture into the molds firmly. Spray each mold with a small bit of water (one spray) and press down again to make sure they’re firm – using too much water will cause the bath bombs to lose their fizz. If you don’t press down firmly, the bombs will not hold together.
- Divide the rest of the mixture into the molds and again press down firmly. Spray the top with water and press down again.
- Let sit on the counter for twenty-four hours to set before removing from molds.

Please note: The mica powder and the almond oil will have these bath bombs leaving your bath a bit slippery – so take caution when getting out!
Experiment with different scents and essential oils depending on your mood or the ailments you may be suffering from:
- Lavender or Jasmine Oil for sleep and concentration.
- Eucalyptus for a cough and congestion
- Jojoba to reduce acne and heal wounds.
- Rose Oil to calm moods.
Which essential oils do you use in your bath bombs?
