7 Tips to a Happy & Healthy March Break + Giveaway

I blame myself. I started slacking - myself and the kids weren’t taking our vitamins, I wasn’t drinking enough water and thanks to a busy work schedule we weren’t eating as healthy as we should’ve been…all that plus the fact that my son is in school, where most viruses are transferred it’s no surprise it lasted as long as it did. Finally, we are all better and looking forward to having a happy and healthy March break.

7 Tips to a Happy and Healthy March Break

Not that we have any travel plans but I would still like to be able to do things during our staycation and that’s not going to happen if we’re plagued by sickness or in pain the entire time.

Tips to a Happy & Healthy March Break
  1. Plan ahead. Nobody wants to get to a movie they’ve been dying to see or an event at a local museum only to find they’re all sold out. Most movie theatres and venues with special events allow tickets to be pre-ordered, having a plan and knowing what you and your family want to do during your Spring Break staycation can save you from this disappointment.

Tip: Hang on to your receipt and any confirmations until after you’ve had your fun. This will help if there’s any confusion for you and what’s included in your purchase, also if the venue has no recollection of your purchase.

2. A happy mom will stay calm. A happy wife leads to a happy life. Ever heard of these sayings before? If you have, it’s because they are completely true. If you haven’t, it’s time for you to memorize them. I am at my most happy when I’m feeling relaxed and pampered. Just because the kids are at home should not mean we don’t get any alone time. Taking an hour or two to get your nails done, soak in a tub and get your legs spring dress ready isn’t going to hurt your family – they’ll survive.

3. Sanitize, sanitize, sanitize. Rainy days can lead to a lot of ventures inside; wall climbing, indoor playgrounds and gym areas… what do all of these have in common? Germs. Make sure you have a supply of hand sanitizer or wipes tucked away where it can be easily accessible.

Tip: Sanitizing and washing also needs to be done on those stubborn stains that are sure to come with your outdoor adventures. OxiCleanTM Cold Water Paks use a colour-safe formula that helps lift out even tough, dried-on stains. OxiCleanTM uses a blend of enzymes and cleansers to penetrate fabrics and help lift stains. No bottles, no mess, and no stain!

4. Keep your ‘mobile medicine cabinet’ AKA your purse stocked. Allergies, upset stomach, back pain…you don’t want any of these to take away from the fun you could be having with your family. Make sure you’ve got at least one of each of these products in your purse; antihistamine, antinauseant and pain reliever.

5. Take your vitamins. The key to maintaining good health even when you’re around little virus infected vessels that choose to cough into the open air or sneeze in your face (it’s happened) is to make sure you’re getting proper nutrition. This can be done through eating the right foods but sometimes getting help from a supplement is needed.

Tip for adults: VitafusionTM Complete Multivitamin for Men and Women provide essential vitamins and nutrients to help to ensure that men and women get the supplements their bodies need to maintain good health. 6. Hydrate and carry snacks. A staycation is bound to be very active at some point, trying to keep your little ones from getting too bored; running around the park, climbing the jungle gym, maybe even swimming at a nearby indoor pool…just one of those activities is enough to make you thirsty and ‘hangry’, carrying a variety of snacks (please take note that I used the word “variety”) especially if you have picky eaters and a few bottles of water.

Tip: Find out ahead of time if there is a water fountain or sink and just bring one bottle to refill.

7. Always have a backup. Keep in mind, just because you plan to go to the Zoo it doesn’t mean the weather is going to hold up for you. Your outdoor excursion may end up being an indoor one or vice versa.

Tip: Don’t stress if things don’t go as planned because that’s no fun for anyone and the whole point of March Break is to have fun!
