9 Sweet Sentiments She Really Wants For Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is just another day, right? A day to celebrate with the one you love but that doesn’t mean it has to cost you an arm and a leg just to make that special someone happy!
Do I love flowers? Am I a sucker for chocolate? Is a weekend away something I desire? Yes, of course and absolutely but that doesn’t mean I have to have any of those things to make me happy.
I am a fan of the sweet sentiments! Buy me a big extravagant gift, I’ll take it but what I will always and forever appreciate more are the little gestures and acts of love that are given to me. So without further ado ladies and gentlemen here are a few things that your significant other truly wants and none of them will cost you a cent.
- Breakfast in bed. Let her sleep in for an extra half hour and bring breakfast to her. Heck, I’m sure she’d even be fine with cereal just as long as she doesn’t have to make her way out of the warm bed to get it.
- Prepare a meal for 2. Once the kids are all tucked into their beds, light some candles, put on some soft music and just enjoy each others company at the table with no food being flung at you or complaints about having to eat what’s on their plate.
- Give her the last bite. I once read somewhere that “if a person truly loves you they will give you their last bite” I think it’s supposed to represent - being more important to them than they are to themselves… or something like that, I honestly can’t remember I just know that I thought it was sweet.
- Shutdown. Not yourself… Just technology. It’s not going to hurt you to tape the game or read your tweets later. Give it up for just a day or even an hour and spend sometime focusing on her.
- Do something she loves. Grey’s Anatomy not your thing? Would you prefer to drive through the park instead of take a walk through? Well, suck it up! It’s just a half hour or so of your time and trust me she will appreciate it more than anything if she knows it’s something you hate.
- Hold hands just because. Take her hand in yours for no other reason than you want to. Holding hands signifies a sense of security, love and comfort. Touching will enhance your feelings and intensify the spark you have for one another.
- Let her know you appreciate her. Although she may know it… it still feels great to hear it from time to time.
- Peace and quiet. Run a hot bubble bath, have her favorite glass of wine sitting beside the tub, grab her favorite magazine or book that she is currently reading, light some candles put on some soft music but most importantly keep the kids away from the bathroom and just let her relax.
- Tell her the reasons why you love her. Is it her smile, her caring nature… whichever it is tell her but not just in any ordinary way. Let her know through a song or a poem. Not much of a poet? Can’t sing to save your life? No problem, she will admire you even more for stepping out of your comfort zone.
As a matter of fact why stop at Valentine’s Day? These sweet sentiments are ways that you can celebrate your love for one another every day. Bonus points if you do all 9 in a single day.

My hubby isn’t much into the sweets, if I did that it would be more of a treat for me.

My husband already does most of these regularly

Oh my goodness this is so true! It’s in the little things. I heard on the radio recently that there is a huge percentage of women who ask their husband’s to hand write them a love letter each year for Valentine’s day. I remember the first year my husband and I were together he spent over $100 on a dozen ecuadorian roses. They were gorgeous but roses die! Memories last forever.

That’s what I tell my husband all the time!

I would love for my hubby to get a sitter. We don’t even need to go out for dinner, I would be happy if we even stayed in and cooked to enjoy a quiet meal together.

I tell my husband that all the time. During the summer after the kids went to bed my husband BBQ’ed steak… it was midnight by the time we ate and we probably shouldn’t have but it was so nice to eat just the two of us.

I like number six. I love holding hands for just because.

I like the idea of shutting down technology. This forces us to pay attention to one another and communicate. I love this idea!

Thank you! It is something that I feel very strongly about… just ask my husband!
