DIY Washi Bunting Banner Tutorial + Alphabet Banner Template Download
Written by Lauren Densley - Creator of DIY FOR DAYS
Washi tape is the funnest trendy crafting tool! It has taken me years to figure out a fun original way to use it, and then a couple of weeks ago, I was perusing the Dollar Tree, and I came across a knock off washi tape for less then $1! Jack Pot! So as a result, this cute banner was born! This tutorial can be tweaked and created for any event, any room, and any style. This tutorial also comes with a free Alphabet Template to help get you started.
DIY Washi Bunting Banner
Materials Needed:
- Colored Crafting Paper
- Washi Tape
- Exacto Knife
- ALPHABET BANNER TEMPLATE DOWNLOAD
- String/Ribbon
1: Cut Out Triangle Pieces
Place your desired templates on the FOLD of your colored paper. Cut around the triangle.
2: Cut Out Letters
Now open up your folded triangle, and align your template on top of one side, and use an Exacto Knife (or scissors), to cut out the letter outline.
3: Apply Washi Tape
On the inside of the folded triangle, apply strips of Washi Tape.
Once you have enough Washi Tape, take a glue stick (or double sided tape) and line the edges of the inside of the letter outline. This will make the paper lay flat against the Washi Tape.
4: Punch Holes/Thread String
Punch holes in the corners of each triangle, and thread your favorite string, or ribbon. Now find a wall, a bench, or a crib to add a little sunshine to!
4: Get Creative
The Alphabet Banner Template Download has a few shape ideas, and the entire alphabet! So mix and match, make your own design, and go crazy with your color choices, because we all know we need more color in our lives!

This looks really good and isn’t difficult to make as long as you’ve found the tape at the Dollar Tree, it’s not expensive either 🙂
