Ultimate Family Game Night with Mattel & Asmodee #Giveaway

With summer vacation nearing and the nights cooling down, we seem to be spending more time indoors, especially during the evening hours. Therefore, “I’m bored!” has become two recurrent words I no longer want to hear. Instead of having the boys spend all of their time watching TV or playing Fortnite, we enjoy a good old fashion family game night.

Thank you to MattelMattel and Asmodee, who recently sent us some games to test out, they have certainly made our nights more entertaining.


My favourite game to play is UNO! I could play this classic card game DAILY…even though the boys beat me EVERY TIME! It’s just so fun and great for some friendly family competition.

It was no surprise to the kids how excited I was when I saw that Mattel also had a DOS card game. Much the same as UNO with a little more difficulty – this game will put your mind to work with two center rows and the option to double number match one of the cards in the center row. For example: if the center card is a 5, you may play any two cards that add up to 5, regardless of colour. Great way to put those math skills to work!

Ticket to Ride First Journey has become a fast favourite of ours, travelling through Canada and the US collecting train cards and claiming routes to some popular cities to achieve our victory. We especially love that our hometown of Winnipeg is on the board. Fun fact: not a whole lot of people from the US know where we are located in Canada, at least none that I’ve ever spoken too.

Is it sad that I became very excited when I saw all of the train tokens came in plastic bags that can be sealed? One of my biggest pet peeves with board games is that pieces always go missing because there is never anywhere to store the content, Ticket to Ride has a place for everything!

Among the other titles were classics such as Skip-Bo, Balderdash; and some new fun faves Azul, Get Packing, Dragon’s Breath and Timeline. All of the games are perfect for there own reasons
