Soft & Chewy Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies #BakingWithBecel
Baking and I have a love/hate relationship; when the recipe I’m working on turns out great I love it and when it doesn’t I hate it, I love coming up with my own tasty creation but it can be stressful when it doesn’t work out as I planned.
Cookies tend to be my biggest downfall, not because they don’t taste great because they always do but more because I always feel like I’m going to break a tooth on the ones I bake. Becel has created the perfect solution to my cookie baking woes with the Anything Goes Cookie Dough. Who knew Becel Buttery Taste margarine was the secret to making my cookies soft and chewy!?
Did You Know…
- Becel® margarine is an easy, versatile and delicious way to get good fats into your daily diet.
- Becel® margarine makes a great substitute for butter in any recipe with a 1:1 ratio.
- Straight out of the fridge Becel® margarine is perfect for icing and as I mentioned above makes delicious soft and chewy cookies.
Soft & Chewy Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup Becel® Buttery Taste margarine
- 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 banana (my mix in choice)
- 2 cups chocolate chips (my mix in choice)
Directions
- Preheat oven 350°.
- Beat Becel® Buttery Taste margarine with sugars in large bowl using electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla until blended.
- Gradually add in flour mixture; beat just until blended.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls on un-greased baking sheets, 2-inches (5 cm) apart.
- Add banana and chocolate chips or your choice of mix in’s (i.e. chocolate chip, dried fruit, seeds, toffee bits, etc.)
- Bake 7 minutes or until edges are golden.
- Cool 2 minutes on wire rack; remove cookies from sheets and cool completely
- Makes 4 dozen.
These cookies turned out better than I had expected; my kids couldn’t get enough, especially my 2-year-old who kept trying to grab another one every time I turned my back and I was told by my mom “they were addicting”.
Don’t just take our word for it. Becel® wants you to give their Anything Goes Cookie Dough recipe a try with your own twist. Simply share a photo of your creation on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest with the hashtag #BakingWithBecel for your chance to win 1 of 15 Cuisinart® 5.5 Quart Stand Mixers (valued at $549.99). Believe it or not, this was the first time I tried the combo in cookie format and with softness of the cookie it melted in my mouth…so good!

I have never tried banana cookies but these sound like mini banana breads which I love, especially with chocolate chips in them!
Amanda Komoski
That’s exactly what I was thinking as I was eating them and because of the Anything Goes Cookie Dough is soft they feel that way too.

When my Dad was ill, his doctor told him that the only good margarine for him to eat was Becel!
Amanda Komoski
My hubby says the same thing. I used to eat a competitor’s brand until we moved in together and I haven’t looked back since.

I saved myself a banana just to make this recipe, they sound so tasty!!

You had to save one? I wish, I have tons in my freezer. We always buy and never eat them, I guess I need to think of more recipes.
