Happy Mother’s Day To Every Women

Mother’s Day is a special time of year and one that I appreciate being able to take part in immensely.

Not for the reasons that you’d think; I don’t get to sleep later, my house is not spotless when I wake up, no breakfast in bed for me, in fact I even have to work. I’m okay with this because none of those things are important to me. Would they be nice? Of course, but the only thing that actually really matters is that I GET to celebrate that day because I’m lucky to still have my mom with me and I’m even luckier to be a mom.

It pains me to know that not everyone can say the same. It may be by choice and if it makes you happy than I’m happy for you.

More often than not it is not a decision that can be made and is often just left in the hands of fate. There was a time when I thought “Maybe, I can’t conceive. What would I do?” I knew from a young age that I wanted children and I always felt that it didn’t matter if they came from my womb or if I hand selected them. Then, I found out I was pregnant with my first.

I was in shock. I was happy. I was scared. I was excited. Just about every emotion you can think of ran through me but most of all I was in awe. My body was beginning to create a little human being who I was going to care for, nurture and protect because that’s what mothers do. Right?

Yes, but everyone our children encounter play an important part in their lives whether they or we know it at the time. We are the ones who carry our children in the womb for 9+ months and go through the trials and tribulations of labour but we are not the only ones who love them, guide them through life or stand by them no matter what.

To me Mother’s Day is not just for women who have children of their own, it’s for EVERY women who has ever loved, cared or nurtured a child unconditionally.

So for all of you moms and any other woman who have ever felt an unconditional love for a child; whether it’s your niece/nephew, step-child… whatever the case may be, I want to wish you all a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY. May your day be filled with love and may you create memories to cherish for a life time.

HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY
