10 Cleaning Products You Need on Moving Day + #LibmanGiveaway

This past July marked a milestone for my husband and me, one that we’ve been working towards for many years. We finally purchased our own home, no more having to rent and basically throw our money away. We are now homeowners!

As great of an accomplishment purchasing our first house has been for us, moving into a home is not all sunshine and rainbows.


• We purchased a home that was built in the 1940’s and with that has seemed to come with some “projects”.
• When something breaks you can’t just call your landlord.
• The owners before us had not cleaned those hard to reach areas in quite some time.
• The day we moved in we found some not so nice “presents” behind the fridge, stove and in cupboards.
• The carpet in the basement and on the narrow stairs were so filthy that our feet were extremely dirty after walking on them.

Needless to say, we were at the grocery store the day we moved in having to buy unexpected last minute cleaning supplies. Move in day is stressful enough without having to run to the store. So to save you the same troubles we had, I’ve compiled a list of 10 Cleaning Products You Need on Moving Day.

RUBBER GLOVES

You never know what you’re going to accidentally touch when you’re cleaning up someone else’s mess. Make sure you’re wearing rubber gloves at all times, but especially when you’re cleaning spaces you can’t see, for example; unclogging drains, under cabinets and other hard to reach places.

CARPET CLEANER

If there’s one thing I learned from my first job as a telemarketer for a carpet cleaning business, it’s that dust mites and bacteria love to make the carpets in our houses their homes. And where there’s a home, there’s a bathroom, even if it is a little dust mite one…I know, disgusting, right?! So, even if the stains can’t be seen it doesn’t mean the carpets don’t need to be cleaned. Although you can hire a professional carpet cleaner or rent a heavy duty one, you don’t have to, Amazon offers carpet cleaners at some pretty competitive prices.

MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER

Make sure the cleaning solution you buy is versatile. You want something that can do it all; walls, countertops, toilets, bathtubs, disinfect doorknobs, etc…there’s no sense in having a couple different bottles of cleaning solution when there are some on the market that do it all.

CLEANING CLOTH ROLL

Cleaning cloths are great for wiping counters, faucets, windows and mirrors.Regular cloths/rags leave streaks on things and there’s nothing I hate more than streaks on my windows or mirrors, especially when they could’ve been prevented.

TOILET BRUSH

Sticking your hand in your toilet is gross, sticking your hand in someone else’s toilet is DISGUSTING…enough said!

One of my biggest pet peeves when mopping the floor is having to bend over and wring out the water – I end up with a serious backache by the time I’m done. The stairs from our kitchen to our basement are so narrow and the carpet cleaner we borrowed didn’t have a stair tool, so I was thankful the scrubber was able to easily come off and there weren’t a whole lot of stairs that needed to be cleaned.
