6 Ways to Boost Your Child’s Energy
Spring has finally sprung!
The weather is finally starting to get warmer (except for the crazy wind we’ve been having) and that means Soccer season is just around the corner.
Last year was a little more trying compared to previous years because it was the first year that my son was at school during the day and the soccer field at night. He was tired, grumpy and sometime sluggish on the field. And that was only with half-days, this year he will be at school all day and things have to change because this mom can’t go through another couple months of dealing with that.
6 Quick Fixes to Boost Your Child’s Energy
- Sleep - Having a regular bedtime is important to ensure your child gets enough sleep. Having the same bedtime as well as routine before bed means it’ll be easier for your child to fall asleep and get the required 9-12 hours of sleep that they need, depending on their age.
- Balanced Diets - Children need foods that are high in protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and calcium to fuel them throughout the day. This begins right at the start of your child’s day with breakfast which can often be forgotten or missed due to not enough time or your child not feeling hungry when they wake-up. Make sure they eat something, even if it’s an apple or a banana they grab on the way to the school bus, pack a little extra in their school lunch bag and have dinner before the games followed by a healthy snack afterwards.
- Hydrate - Water, water, water. Stay away from sugary drinks on game day or save it for snack time after the game.
- Sunshine -Vitamin D is proven to boost energy levels. Let’s face it, I bet we can all say that we’ve all got a lot more ‘drive’ to get things done when it’s a beautiful sunshine-y day compared to a dark and gloomy one.
- Less Tube-time - This goes for video games too. I can be in a crazy cleaning mood and the minute I park myself in front of the TV it slowly starts to drain a little bit of my energy. I would imagine the same goes for our children. I remember being on the go from sun up to sun down as a kid and not even skipping a beat. It seems not all but some, my son included would rather stay inside and play a video-game than enjoy the fresh air. My son constantly complains about being too tired, I call it laziness and blame the ‘tube’ and myself for letting him watch too much. It stops now!
- Vitamins - Gummy vitamins are an easy way to trick your kids into getting the nutrients they need but it seems pointless if that vitamin is loaded with sugar. Honibe gummy vitamins are made with 100% Canadian honey and has three natural flavors - fruit punch, orange and natural berry. The first honeycomb shaped gummy vitamin my son tried he made a sour face, this is how I knew they weren’t too sweet, when he was done he was begging for more. The adult ones aren’t half bad either and after taking them for 3 days I’ve noticed my energy levels increase and I WANT to do more, after all honey is a natural energy resource among other things.

I do take vitamins every day. I usually remember. They are important to me in case I am not getting enough in the foods I am eating.

Great post! I have 3 munchkins that stay very busy, but finding ways to keep their energy up is important to me. Sunshine, playing outside & healthy eating are part of arsenal of boosting their energy.
