Ring In The New Year With Kids - 4 Easy & Inexpensive Ideas
Christmas is over and it’s time to start thinking about those New Year’s Eve festivities. I don’t know about you but I haven’t gone out or really done much of anything on this day for the last 7 years. Sure I’ve gone to my parent’s house but I mean in an “adult environment”, I’m talking champagne, dancing and a bunch of un-cohesive adults trying not to mess up on the countdown to a New Year. And I’m okay with that. To be perfectly honest I am better than okay with it, I would much rather be spending my night with the two most important little guys in my life anyway. I have a fun-filled night complete with decorations and party favors and it’s not going to cost me nearly as much as it would if I were to go out.
- Party Favors - There is no need to go to a big box department store to get your party favors. Any dollar store carries a variety of party hats, boas, blowers, decorations; the possibilities are endless. I think the only problem I’ll have with this is making sure they don’t use the blowers too much and give me a headache.
- Food – Finger foods always seem to taste SO good. I’m not talking about anything too fancy; I’m talking fun pin wheel sandwiches, a tray of our favorite fruits, veggies, cheese and crackers… just to name a few.
- Entertainment – My oldest received a few board games for Christmas that we can enjoy as a family; Yahtzee, Jenga and TMNT Trouble will be some of the highlights of our night. Netflix will supply us with some viewing pleasure and who needs a DJ when good ol’ Songza will let us listen to our favorite Country hits of 2014.
- Resolutions –Everyone is always making individual resolutions but what about our families as a unity. I think it might be fun to sit around the table and write down at least one thing on a piece of paper that we would like to achieve as a family in 2015 and tuck it away someplace safe. Than the following New Year’s Eve we can take it out and see how far we have come together.
Will my kids last the night? Who knows but I know they will have fun trying!
Will you be ringing in the New Year with kids?
