My kids have always loved books; picture books, sticker books, colouring books, learning books, fiction books and yes, even cookbooks. I guess you could say they take after me – ever since I was a little girl, you could always find me with my nose in a book; reading, writing, colouring and now cooking.
So, it’s safe to say when it comes to gift ideas for both my boys books are always a good option.
DK Canada has great gift ideas for the entire family. Here are a few of our favourites…
My son was so happy when I gave him the Complete Children’s Cookbook as an early Christmas gift – he already has a ton of post-its hanging out of it, this way he can easily get to all of the delicious dishes tomorrow for Christmas morning dessert.
“Delicious dishes kids will really want to make.
More than 150 fabulous recipes, divided into nine themed chapters (Breakfast, Soups and Salads, Light Bites, and more) will have you and your child in the kitchen and cooking in no time. From French toast to rainbow salad, vegetable lasagna to tomato soup, and ice cream to mini muffins, Complete Children’s Cookbook has a recipe for every occasion. And with beautiful full-color photography, simple instructions, and a focus on safety, each one makes an ideal cook-together project that will have children excited to try the new flavors in the dishes they helped make.”
LEGO for the win…
We have HUGE LEGO fans in our house! My oldest has been a fan ever since he was a little guy and now our little guy is also starting to see LEGO bricks for what they actually are. You can believe that they’ve definitely got a few different (and by that I mean 734,897,539) LEGO sets on their holiday wish lists.
365 Things to Do with LEGO Brick by Simon Hugo is a clear choice to have under the tree for my oldest. He can even time himself with the timer on the front of the book and when he can’t decide which activity to conquer he can trust the luck of the random generator.
“Inspires you to look at your LEGO bricks in new and exciting ways. This interactive book features imaginative play and building ideas, from LEGO projects that take just a few minutes and require a handful of bricks to inspirational build ideas and activities to keep you occupied for hours.
Visual tips and advice from LEGO fan builders will encourage you to get creative and have fun while learning new building skills such as building your own LEGO pet, challenging your friends to make the tallest LEGO tower against the clock, and creating a LEGO treasure hunt.”
Now, not to be left out of the whole LEGO obsession; I know my youngest would love the Ultimate Sticker Collection: LEGO Winter Wonderland and all the fun it has to offer!
“With more than 1,000 colorful stickers, Ultimate Sticker Collection: LEGO® Winter Wonderland is festively fun, packed full of snowy scenes, perfect presents, excited elves, and much much more. Covering a range of LEGO properties, it is perfect for old and new LEGO fans alike! Children will adore exploring wintery worlds and decking the halls with candy canes with Ultimate Sticker Collection: LEGO Winter Wonderland.”
